Australian Natalie Isaacs is passionate about reducing waste. But years ago, she had a line of cosmetics products – and her goal then was to get people to buy as much as possible.

Isaacs: “My life was so different. It was all about overpackaging.”

But then Isaacs literally had a lightbulb moment. She installed energy efficient lightbulbs in her home, and started turning her lights off when they were not needed.

Isaacs: “I got my electricity bill down by 20%.”

She was surprised that such a small action helped the climate and saved her money, so she began cutting back on food waste and shopping, too.

Isaacs: “I changed my life! And I thought that … imagine if millions and millions and millions of us were doing the same thing? What an impact!”

So she started an organization called 1 Million Women. The group empowers women to make small but important changes, like using public transport or not buying overpackaged products.

Isaacs: “Our focus is about building a lifestyle revolution to fight the climate crisis. Every dollar you spend, every choice you make, every single thing that we do every single day shapes the kind of world we want to live in.”
